WHO I AM

My name is Gian Maria, I was born in Italy 22 years ago.

I’ve always draw in my life since I was 1, I evolved my passion for art and drawing all by my self: abreast with these interests I studied graphic design in Venice.

In these years I was influenced by a lot of artists and art movements that gave knowledge and ideas to improve my skills and my creations: Alex Grey was one of the firsts that near me to conceptual art and psichedelic movement, Expressionism for the expressive sign and Cubism that I reworked to adapt to realistic portrait.

FIRST EXHIBITION

My first exhibition “the Power of Portrait” performed from 8 to 16 October 2016 in San Vito’s Castle, there I show my first artworks that have the purpose to define human nature and his condition, also for my portraits I choose a graphic sign and style that express the true nature of the person that I draw.

A long time ago I tried to define what a human is, a little awareness of being that feels giddiness for an unlimited

universe, my hand followed the flow of my thoughts and made thousands faces: it was the humble attempt to define it

inside lines that dirty a paper.

I improved to draw mouths and noses and make eyes alive on the canvas, but that lines were meaningless:

I paint the appereance!

There’s a world behind every face, we are more than a reflection on the mirror!

I grew up to search what’s special in every person and go through his masks and his fictions to find his treasure

deep inside: the wrinkles of an old man conceal his wisdom, in the gestures of a woman I see her elegance, in the

smallness of a baby there is his will to grow up.

I portray beyond the face, the treasures deep inside, that’s the Power of Portrait!
